Sandi Clelland
Sandi is an emerging Scottish artist only recently exhibiting her work locally. Although having studied Art and Design many years ago, it was only after a Brain Injury that she returned to Art as part of her recovery. She continues in overcoming the on-going challenges of re-learning old skills as well as discovering new.
Sandi feels an intimate connection to the oceans and seas and is inspired and captivated by their ever-changing quality, from the gentle movement of still waters to the raw power of crashing waves. These elements of nature alongside the ever-changing skies of light and drama provide Sandi with endless possibilities to invite the viewer on a timeless visual journey.
Using mainly oils and acrylics painting has become a passion from the first brushstroke, through struggle, self-doubt, frustration, hours of “burning the midnight oil” through to the completed piece. Sandi also finds great joy in creating intuitively and experiments with mixed media, producing abstract pieces which incorporate fossils, crystal fragments, crushed glass and resin.
Sandi understands the power of healing to be found in the creative arts. Everyone can be creative in some form, she encourages other to go on their own journey by becoming creative and getting involved in local art groups and workshops.
