I’m Tracy Mead and I have lived in Girvan with my Husband Peter and Daughter Chloe since 1999.
It was during covid that I started to enjoy watching sewing programmes. I had owned a sewing machine for many years but only ever did a small repair job or took up a hem here or there. But after watching the programmes I thought perhaps I could have a go at making SOMETHING. After much thought and deliberation I decided upon denim bags. Denim and bags being 2 of my favourite things.
I didn’t want to be using expensive fabrics to begin practicing the creations so I decided to use old pre loved items. And have enjoyed giving a new lease of life to older items, taking the highlights from each piece and making them into something new. And I’m still learning as I go.
I find it very relaxing to start to work with old jeans and skirts and shirts and just ” see what happens”. I’m at my happiest when I have no idea what I’m going to make….. it just evolves along the way.
I never make 2 pieces exactly the same. Each one is totally individual.
