The theme for the Ayrshire Hospice 2027 Calendar Competition is “Ayrshire at Night – from dusk ’til dawn.” We’re inviting photographers to capture Ayrshire as daylight fades and night takes over, revealing a different side of familiar places. From glowing sunsets and quiet twilight to moonlit coastlines, stormy skies and the first light of early morning, the theme is open to your own interpretation.
Photographs should be taken between sunset and sunrise and may feature urban or rural landscapes, coastlines, landmarks, weather, or atmospheric night scenes. Creative approaches are encouraged, including long-exposure photography, reflections, silhouettes, light trails or artistic interpretations that focus on mood, contrast and colour.
The competition is open to photographers aged 16 and over, with parental or guardian consent required for anyone under the age of 18. All images must be taken within Ayrshire and submitted in landscape format, as each calendar image also features as a tear-off postcard. Please see the terms and conditions for full details.
A judging panel will carefully review all entries and select 12 images to be featured in the 2027 calendar. From these, the overall winner will be voted for by attendees of the Ayrshire Hospice Living Well Hubs.
A maximum of FOUR entries per person can be submitted during the submission window from Monday 2nd March until 5pm on Friday 1st May. For the full terms and conditions of entry please click below.
